Insights:

l   Key to have more open space spirit is helping more people locate their passion and responsibility to sponsor certain themes
l   Potential sponsors/conveners need occasions to reflect on current reality to be able to explore what they care about. Some people do it right there. Some people need some cooking time in real life to think through and discover
l   Through demonstrating OS spirit in casual conversation with family and friends. Find niche to talk about OS
l   Different levels of sponsorship, we are aiming for people to move from level 1 to level 8. How to encourage, support…?

Eg.
l   OS temple: people go regularly to talk about certain topics place where things can happen
l   Fortune teller: questions and vague answers yet trigger thoughts for next steps
l   Existing NGO/Gov agencies/Paths: People go to and work with them

Advocate diverse perspectives on specific issues/topics/arena (strong incentives to find resources, people, $, venue, facilitators…)

l   Big brother: In school, we trust our teacher’s recommendation and she has passion and responsibility for our lab and work. Before we know it we are doing it.
l   Maybe in advisor system so they can be a hub
l   Current edu system already can not tolerate innovative people=> This is an issue/block
l   Weekly/morning/routine meeting should be a time and space for these kind of dialogue=>change format of routine mtg to be OS and encouraging passion
l   Primary School we could start encouraging these bahaviors. EQ/IQ to expand capacity of listening to other ideas
l   EQ education does not equal to living EQ principles. Jessie’s story eg. How time is allocated for EQ program, how the program is designed… It takes time from educate to implement. Struggle relates to EQ promoter’s way. Need to change because currently it is in contradiction of the idea. Key question: Do you allow time for people to think/process about what is happening.
l   Gina sharing: I have a Ph.D. in adult education. This makes me think of Pedagogy of the oppressed by Paulo Friere (this is lacking in our formal education) vs. Banking education, which means continuous needing to have instructors to input. Pedagogy education should work with facilitators. Currently adults need extra efforts to express ourselves and to struggle because they don’t have it in their education.
l   Jessie’s story on volunteers: they don’t know each other after X years of service. In Jessie’s program she have interpersonal activities and people spoke to one another for the first time. A surprise.
l   Relevant information: “Information follows connection”
l   Locate a group who share common urgent needs than.
l   Create contact of OS so that feels the difference of level 1 vs. level 8
l   Integrate into ways of life
l   Most hopeful to introduce in children’s education
l   “Problem” focus and failure prevention vs. “Hope” focus and success driven =>Maybe both right.
l   Jochan: in my department we make innovative proposals. Boss belives if 30-40% sure we should go for it. Some people wait for correct people/resources but my experience is that as long as we have passionate people the resources lacked will be found補齊 (eg. Jochan’s story on championing easy traveling for handicapped people 無障礙旅遊。相關的建築師、觀光局、外國的招待單位、無障礙旅遊地陪)
l   Innovation comes from making mistakes
l   Two types of innovation: 1. Accumulative/integration of other people’s innovation. 2. Starting form zero. => 1. Gets more acceptance while OS supports 2.
l   How to implement innovative ideas?
l   Sponsor’s intention and acceptance of surprises.
n   Ready or not ready for surprises? Check can you accept… as a consequence?
n   Good cause? Evil cause? (or not pure?)
l   Theme setting process with sponsor (this links to the topic on how to make OS successful)
n   Reframing based on interview results
n   Regarding timeframe, scope and audience…context
n   Phrase in a way when participants would say: “now that you say it this way, I will come.”
