l   Intimacy is the same for any size of group.
l   Challenging, engaging, in passion theme.
l   Focus on one of the purposes of clarifying; misunderstanding.
l   Get the questions to be answered.
l   Do a full day Open Space. Don’t lose time to do much warm up.

l   It’s not necessary whether people know each other.
l   The theme has to relate to : future, make people excited, invite engagement (meaning that it touches people’s spirit and heart), possible to act on it (meaning not to change the whole world, but  can change our world)
l   How to come out with the theme ? Just ways to find out what people really care about
l   Even if some participants are not there for their own will, OST is there to still serve them, and that’s why finding theme/topics that people really care about is crucial
l   A story shared about finding the theme gradually with the client in Australia : (the way to comeout the them)
The client wanted to do an open space and was talking about something about their next five years,
Facilitator asked ‘What about the next 5 years ?’
Answer was ‘to do something better’, then the conversation was as below.
Q : ‘Do you mean that you stop things that they are doing now ?
A : No, what are good will be kept, other things that need to be changed’
Q : who will be involved in this change
A : us
So with  the question and answer, finally a theme question came out : ‘Doing what we do even better (the issues and opportunities)’
The phrase of ‘even better’ is positive and powerful.
The formation of the theme is from comprehensive discussion. So no matter whether the participants came on their own will or not, or whether they know each other or not, the importance is that the theme matters to them.
